Kidney volunteers needed

Across Northwestern Ontario, hundreds of volunteers will brave the cool March weather to raise funds and awareness of kidney health issues through the Kidney Foundation’s annual door-to-door campaign.

It is the largest fundraising campaign for the Kidney Foundation annually, and we hope to raise $30,000 in Northwestern Ontario.

Animal health legislation passed

New measures will help prevent, detect, and respond to animal diseases and other related health events to better protect the people, animals, and economy of Ontario.

The Animal Health Act, 2009 was passed last week by the Ontario legislature.

Once proclaimed, the act will provide important tools to help support government and industry partners, including:

New health services plan for northwest unveiled

The North West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) has a new Integrated Health Services Plan, which identifies the priorities for health system improvements in Northwestern Ontario over the next three years (2010-13) and the plans to address them.

The IHSP, released Nov. 30, builds on the findings and progress made on the priorities in the LHIN’s plan for 2007-10.
