Category:

No new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon and only one new fire was confirmed on Saturday.

Dryden Fire #8, located near Seseganaga Lake, was listed as “being held” at 0.8 hectares in size at last report.

However, eight fires were confirmed in the region by the end of the day on Friday.

Most of these blazes are listed as “under control" or "out.”

Fires of note include Red Lake Fire #30, which now is at 3,739 ha in size following the use of ignition on this fire to bring it to natural boundaries.

It has been exhibiting minimal fire behaviour since receiving unsettled weather.

This fire is located 60 km west of Poplar Hill.

The forest fire hazard ranges from “low" to "high” across the region, with the area of highest hazard in the Fort Frances District and the far north of Sioux Lookout District.

The hazard was projected to rise across the region today.

Members of the public are reminded that a Restricted Fire Zone remains in effect.

The Restricted Fire Zone is a temporary measure to reduce the number of new human-caused wildfires.
