One new fire was confirmed in Dryden District by yesterday afternoon while one new fire was reported in Fort Frances District on Sunday.
Fort Frances Fire #21 is a 0.1-hectare, lightning-caused blaze located about 65 km north of Fort Frances.
It was listed as “under control.”
Dryden Fire #27, meanwhile, is a human-caused blaze located about 37 km east-southeast of Dryden.
It was listed as “not under control” at 0.1 hectares in size.
The other active fire in the Northwest Region is Kenora Fire #44, which is a 0.2-hectare, lightning-caused blaze that is “being observed.”
The fire is smouldering and serving to renew the ecosystem in the conservation reserve on Lake of the Woods.
The forest fire hazard is “moderate-high” in the southern sectors of the region and “low” in the north.
