One new fire was confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.
Thunder Bay Fire #26, located about 10 km west of Pays Plat, was a human-caused blaze involving smouldering railway ties.
The fire is now “out” at 0.1 hectares in size.
One new fire also was confirmed by day’s end Tuesday.
Thunder Bay Fire #25 was a lightning-caused blaze involving a single tree smouldering on an island on Middle Shebandowan Lake west of Shebandowan.
It also is now “out” at 0.1 ha in size.
The forest fire hazard is “low” to “moderate” in the southern sectors of the region, and “moderate” to “high” in the north and far north.
