Two charged with impaired driving

At 12:59 a.m. on Saturday, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the rear alley of the 200 block of Scott Street in the Town of Fort Frances.

After speaking with the driver, police determined the driver had been drinking.

The driver, a 39-year-old Thunder Bay man, failed the roadside test and was subsequently arrested. He was transported to OPP detachment for breath tests.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.

The driver was subsequently charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood and driving under suspension.

At 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, officers conducted a traffic stop in LaVallee Township, and after speaking with the driver, determined the driver had been drinking.

The driver, a 43-year-old Fort Frances woman, failed the roadside tests and arrested at the scene.

She was transported to OPP detachment for breath tests. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.

Subsequently, the driver was charged with having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.
