Teen rescue nets charge

A 15-year-old Slate Falls female was charged in relation to a rescue incident late Saturday afternoon.

Around 5 p.m., Sioux Lookout OPP officers were dispatched to an intoxicated person who was on the northern ridge of Sioux Mountain.

When officers found the subject, it was determined it was too dangerous to safely navigate her down the narrow and icy trail due to her level of intoxication.

The Sioux Lookout Fire Department and Sioux Lookout Ambulance were called to assist.

The CN rail line had to be temporarily shut down while rescue efforts commenced.

During the rescue, the teen became unco-operative and kicked one of the police officers who was trying to help her off the mountain.

The teen eventually was brought down safely, where she then was place in police custody.

But she continued to be combative with officers and tried to bite one of them while being placed in detachment cells.

The teen faces one charge of assaulting police.

She is to appear in court April 12.
