Category:

Draw winners from the recent “Strawberry Social” held by the Emo and District Hospital Auxiliary included Mamie Herdman of Fort Frances (wooden lawn chairs donated by Nestor Falls Hardware) and Shirley Brown of Nestor Falls (solar lights).

Shirley Wilson of Emo won the door prize.

The auxiliary members thank all who donated, attended, and worked at the event.

A centrifuge and a pain pump for the Emo Health Centre have been purchased while renovations to the shower room there will be happening this summer.

The auxiliary is happy to make all this possible.

In addition, the auxiliary would like to thank Gillons' Insurance for displaying the chairs and helping to promote this fundraising event.

The “Country Jam” held Friday evening at the Emo Legion was well-attended.

Thank you to all the musicians who came out to play and sing their favourite “old-time” songs. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time dancing, listening to the music, and socializing.

Hope to see everyone out at the July “jam.”

The local Alzheimer Society has a fantastic program which they're calling the “Music Project.”

The concept is simple. People, especially patients with Alzheimer's, react positively to music. Using iPods, the patient can listen to their favourite music—tunes that connect them with special moments and times in their lives.

This project is provided at no charge to the families who have members living with Alzheimer's.

The society, therefore, is looking for donations of gently-used iPods which can be used in the program. They also will accept monetary donations, headphones, and iTunes gift cards.
