Rural area a flurry of activities

Our rural area is a flurry of activities these days—a sure sign that the Christmas season has arrived!

The annual “Holly Daze” festivities take place Nov. 30-Dec. 1 in Emo.

The parade will be held on the Friday at 6 p.m., with hot chocolate and fireworks afterwards.

Also taking place over the two-day event is a craft show, draw prizes, cutest baby contest, and a tree-lighting ceremony.

A food drive also will be held.

Meanwhile, the annual “Stuff-a-Cruiser” event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at various locations around the district, including Cloverleaf Grocery in Emo.

All donations stay in our area and assist local people.

Volunteers are needed to work the door. High school students are welcome to volunteer and earn their hours needed to graduate.

To sign up or for more info, call 486-3455 or 276-8841.

Another fun-filled event all Devlin/La Vallee families should be sure to attend is the annual Christmas party and fun day.

It will take place Sunday, Dec. 9 beginning at 3:30 p.m., with a potluck supper being served at 5 p.m. (bring your favourite family dish or salad).

There also will be a sing-song and kids' corner, and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus!

Sympathy to the family and friends of Lenny Allen.

Your community is thinking of you all at this sad time.

Congratulations to Jason and Anne Dieterle, who were wed on Oct. 13.

A family celebration was held on Nov. 10 to share this happy event with the couple.

A reminder that this Monday (Nov. 26) is a PA Day for all students in our area.

And don't forget the annual Christmas concert at Crossroads School goes on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Robin's 2¢:

Remember, if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn't fit any of your containers.
