Ten new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region from May 19-25 in the districts of Dryden, Kenora, Nipigon, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, and Thunder Bay.
Three new fires occurred May 19, two on May 20, and one on May 21.
Then after no new fires were reported on either Victoria Day or the following day, three occurred on Wednesday.
The last new fire was reported by yesterday evening.
Four fires remain active in the Nipigon and Red Lake districts while the rest have been extinguished.
The forest fire hazard is “high” in the western and central sectors of the region, but there may be some relief with rain in the forecast.
