Category:

The Rainy River Future Development Corp. and the Town of Fort Frances, along with our headline sponsor Tbaytel, are excited to announce the 2018 Rainy Lake Series concerts.

These free concerts will be held Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. at the new Rainy Lake Square in downtown Fort Frances.

The grand opening, set for Thursday, May 17, will feature a “Fort Frances Kitchen Party” with Entyrely Mac, a local brother/sister musical act originally hailing from the Maritimes.

The have an extensive repertoire of 280-plus folk, roots, and rock songs.

The second concert will be Fred Penner on Thursday, June 14.

Canada's iconic and beloved children's music performer, and three-time Juno Award winner, will perform such family favourites such as “The Cat Came Back.”

Penner brings 45 years of commitment, consistency, and depth to his performances.

Kings of None then will take the stage on Thursday, July 12.

The local Fort Frances recording artists and rockers will be playing cover songs and originals.

Performing on Thursday, Aug. 30 will be Iskwé, a Juno-award nominated Cree and Dene pop/electronic music singer named among the “Top 10 Canadian Musicians You Need to Know” by CBC Music.

Iskwé's cross-cultural aesthetic is as striking as her tripped-out blend of soul.

Distant Legacy featuring Brittany Strachan will be the opening act on Aug. 30.

Finally, The Old Salts will close out the series with a concert on Thursday, Sept. 13.

A high-powered, six-piece roots-rock outfit from Toronto, The Old Salts have shared the stage with the Wooden Sky, Devin Cuddy, and many others.

The Rainy Lake Series is sponsored by the Town of Fort Frances, Tbaytel, Celebrate Ontario, the Ontario Arts Council, Sunset Country Ford, and New Gold.

The Sunset Country Métis is sponsoring the Aug. 30 concert.
