From the OPP
On Friday around 2 p.m., Kenora OPP officers were at the Kenora Courthouse transporting several people in custody to the Kenora District Jail when a 31-year-old male escaped.
The male fled to the Kenora Bay waterfront, where he crossed the ice making his way to Treaty Island.
The OPP’s North West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the OPP Canine Unit, and Kenora Search and Rescue were activated to locate the male.
He male was located and arrested on Treaty Island about an hour later.
The man was transported to hospital as a precaution, then was remanded to the Kenora District Jail.
