Scores of local young people team up with two professional actors this weekend to present Prairie Fire Children's Theatre's original musical version of the classic tale, “Pinocchio.”
The show is slated for Saturday, June 23 at 7 p.m. in the Backus Auditorium in International Falls.
“Pinocchio,” with script by Robert Gribas, original music by Angela Rinaldi Gribas, and costume and set design by Deborah Nelson Pick, continues Prairie Fire's tradition of presenting classic tales as you've never seen them before.
From the Enchanted Forest of the Blue Fairy to the Isle of Fun, follow Pinocchio's adventures as he learns what it means to be a real boy.
The local cast features Rabecka Salo, Melissa Shoquist, Gavia Yount, Jillian Bilben, Emerald Estabrooks, Taleai Boyer, Douglas Salo, Emmitt Olson, Aiden Barnhart, Neva Kokesh, Elaina Wright, Gracie Froemke, Jillian Frank, Jailynn Sherill, Linnaea Yount, Tikvah Boyer, Abby Barnhart, and Jenika Shermerhorn.
Prairie Fire professionals Dereis Lambert and Caylyn Jarmon-Vinson co-directed the production, and will play the roles of Gepetto/Tempesto, the Puppet Master, and the Fox.
Tickets cost $6 for adults and $3 for children, which are available at the door.
An exhibit of work done throughout the week at art classes will be on display in the dining room starting at 6 p.m.
This Prairie Fire Children's Theatre residency is being sponsored by the Otto Bremer Trust, Marshall N. Kundson Family Fund, and the City of International Falls.
