Members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information of a suspicious vehicle on Railway Avenue in the Municipality of Machin last Wednesday at approximately 12 p.m.
Police later located the vehicle at 7-Eleven in the City of Dryden.
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop however the driver placed the vehicle into drive and drove towards the officer. The vehicle narrowly missed the officer and fled the parking lot.
Additional officers assisted in tracking the vehicle and located the driver and vehicle on Russell Road in the City of Dryden.
The driver, a 33-year-old Calgary man, has been charged with the following offences:
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code;
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code; and
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code..
