Remains of nine people were located late Friday within a residence that burned down last week on Pikangikum First Nation.
The remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Services in Toronto, where post-mortems will be conducted.
A forensic anthropologist from the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service was on scene working co-operatively with several members of the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office and the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services Unit.
The scene examination was expected to be completed by the end of the weekend or early this week.
The cause of the fire, which occurred just before midnight last Tuesday, remains undetermined.
