The regular executive meeting of the La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary was held on Monday Feb. 3. Linda Booth presided, with ten members and one guest attending.
A meeting was not held in January.
A Lobby Sale hosted by the LVGHA was held in conjunction with a Staff Coffee Break on Friday Feb. 14. The sale featured a bake table which is always the highlight of the sale. Thank you to all the members who donated baking to this worthy cause. Your generosity is appreciated.
A free will raffle table featuring a flower arrangement donated by Fort Floral, was won by Linda Keller. A Teddy Bear donated by Mersini Fournier was won by Sandra Beadle. Finally, a comforter and sham set donated by Marilyn Brown was won by Carolynne Leimenstoll. Shelley Wepruk of Sweety Cakes donated cupcakes. The members thank these wonderful donors for their support.
The Staff Coffee Break featuring fruit, beverage, and cake was held from 1:00 to 3:00.
The Shop Revitalization Committee has been busy sprucing up the shop. The committee is pleased to announce that the shop will feature three Pop Up Shops. Hooterville Honey is a returning favourite, along with new vendors Hill Rd. Company from Robyn Dennis featuring wood products from key chains to charcuterie boards, and Cracked Tub Creations - Home and Body by Sandy, which features handmade soaps and wax melts. A reminder that a portion of sales from the Pop Up Shops is donated back to the Auxiliary.
In addition, the shop has new inventory. It now has Glass Art comprised of lovely glass balls in different sizes from Kitras Glass and an assortment of brightly patterned bags from Jafson.
As well, our usual merchandise is available such hats, mittens and slippers, which are on sale BOGO. New inventory added includes hand sewn quilts and a variety of items for the new arrival. Also, donated crafts, books and puzzles. A variety of goods for the discerning shopper. .
The Christmas Luncheon, held on Dec. 9 was well attended. A lovely lunch was served by the United Church ladies. Games were played with the winners receiving the Poinsettias decorating the tables as prizes, which made it an enjoyable event for all. The door prize was won by Nadia Felix.
The Christmas Raffle was a success with all tickets being sold. The winner of the 50/50 draw was Shelley Thompson.
To date four palliative care kits and 13 baby kits have been distributed.
The March lunch will be held on March 9th. The tickets are $15.00 each and can be purchased at the shop, Pharmasave and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Linda Booth will be the President until June. The Vice President position is still vacant.
There are many fund raising events in the works that the members are pleased to announce. These include The Strawberry Social, Fall Tea, Cash Raffle and Rockin' For A Reason. Times and dates for these fun events will be announced at a future date.
The winter newsletter is in circulation. Anyone not receiving their copy can pick one up at the shop.
A meeting will not be held in March. The next executive meeting will be held April 6.
