Jim Scheibler is trying to promote Muskie sports of all kinds.
One way he will be doing that is setting up a booth in the arena at this year’s Rainy River Valley Agricultural Fair, running in Emo today through Saturday.
He also has made a float for the parade on Saturday and hopes current Muskie athletes—and even alumni—will come and join in.
“I’m looking for some people to ride and walk along with us, handing out freezies during the parade,” he explained, citing they have 21 jerseys they can lend to people to wear.
“Or if they have one from whatever sport they were in and want to wear that, that would be cool,” he expressed.
Scheibler said he is just looking to get some enthusiasm going around the Muskie athletic program.
“Aside from hockey and football, you don’t know very much, but there was 24 or 25 sports that they Muskies are actually involved in,” he stressed. “People just don’t know, so we’re trying to promote that.”
He noted it’s important that kids have the opportunity to join those kinds of clubs.
“It helps with their schooling,” he voiced. “It helps relieve their stress, they make friends for life.
“It’s really important to me that they try to do something other than jus their school work,” he said. “That’s what this is all about.”
Anyone who is able to join Scheibler in the parade, is asked to send him at text at 271-2470 or 271-2469.
Or they can just show up Saturday morning.
Parade lineup takes place at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Emo Hospital, with judging at 11 a.m. and the parade beginning at noon.
