Mischiefs probed


On Tuesday, members of the Rainy River District OPP were called to investigate a mischief to property in Fort Frances.

Around 10:35 p.m., officers were called to a report of a dumpster fire behind Robert Moore School near Armit Avenue.

Fortunately, the fire did not cause further damage and was extinguished quickly by the Fort Frances Fire Department.

While investigating the fire, officers received a report of a house being egged near Armit Avenue.

Further investigation revealed the culprits also covered the property of the victim in pumpkin.

Meanwhile, on Oct. 19 around 4:20 p.m., a member of the Rainy River District OPP was conducting a patrol on Highway 11 in Alberton Township when he spotted a vehicle apparently exceeding the speed limit.

A vehicle stop was initiated and in speaking with the driver, the officer determined he had alcohol in his body.

The male was arrested and transported to the Fort Frances OPP detachment, where he underwent further testing.

A 24-year-old Fort Frances man subsequently was charged with driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.

He is scheduled to appear in court date here Nov. 5.
