Legion ladies preparing for tea, Remembrance Day

Category:

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Br. #29 met on Oct. 10, with 38 members in attendance.

A delicious potluck supper was enjoyed by all at 6 p.m., followed by our regular monthly meeting.

The charter was draped in memory of Cheri Stanley.

The October birthday winner was Barb Ogden, with cards to Clara Stainke and Maureen Ricard.

The 50/50 draw winner was Wilna Meyers while Linda Larocque won the attendance draw.

Our next monthly supper will take place this Friday (Oct. 26) at 5:30 p.m. upstairs at the Legion.

It will feature Ukrainian dishes (i.e., perogies, cabbage rolls, chicken, veggies, buns, salad, and homemade pies/desserts), with the cost being $18/plate.

With renovations to our kitchen taking place, we are anticipating they will be completed in time for this special supper.

Please watch for posters and newspaper notifications as to the status.

The auxiliary's annual Remembrance Day tea will take place on Sunday, Nov. 4 so be sure to mark your calendar (watch for newspaper notifications).

50/50 tickets are on sale now for $2 each from auxiliary members, with the draw to be made on Nov. 4 during the tea.

The annual Remembrance Day ceremony then will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the cenotaph to remember and honour the brave men and women who fought for our freedom.

Lest we forget.

The raffle for a queen-sized quilt will be draw on Nov. 11. Tickets cost $2 each, which are available from auxiliary members.

The auxiliary is supporting/sponsoring “Kids & Company” performances, as well as prizes for the Rainycrest Bingo on Oct. 17.

Members also are preparing for the Legion Convention that will be held June 14-17 in Fort Frances.

The auxiliary's next meeting is set for Wednesday, Nov. 14, during which the election of officers will take place.
