The local Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary met Dec. 14, with 45 members braving the cold.
Four tickets were purchased for the Alzheimer’s dinner being held Jan. 21.
A donation was made to the Voyageur Lions’ Club’s annual “Polar Plunge” on New Year’s Day, with a group of girls to plunge in support of the Legion branch (brrrrr).
A donation also was made to the upcoming community Christmas dinner on Dec. 25 at Knox United Church.
Following the brief meeting, a delicious supper was enjoyed.
Thanks to the Legion branch for cooking the meal, which was served by branch members, husbands, and Cadets and Girl Guides (great job everyone).
A gift exchange and Christmas party also was enjoyed.
Thanks again to Clara and Gloria for making the hall look very festive.
Meanwhile, keep your ears open for more information in the New Year about the auxiliary’s first-ever gala!
It is slated for Saturday, Feb. 11, with the meal and entertainment to feature a “Pre-Grammy” theme.
So save this date as we really are excited about undertaking this new fundraiser.
The December supper will be held on Saturday (for this month only) as it is New Year’s Eve.
It will feature roast beef, gravy, salad, buns, potatoes, vegetables, and a dessert—all for $15/plate.
50/50 tickets will be available for a draw held that night.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with take-outs available for pick-up by calling 274-3772.
The attendance draw was won by Dorese Harrison while the birthday draw winner was Carol Affleck.
Carol also was honored by Ray Watson with the branch president’s award for all the hard work done for the auxiliary.
Barb Everett won the early-bird membership draw for November.
The auxiliary’s next meeting will be held Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Legion hall.
Sandra Gosselin has taken on membership. She can be reached at 274-7531 if you would like to find out more about joining the auxiliary.
The auxiliary would like to thank everyone for their support this past year, and hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and a great New Year!
