Hunters use caution: MNRF

Category:

During hunting season, both hunters and firefighters may be on the same landscape and roadways.

Hunters are asked to use caution when on the back roads and forested areas as firefighters may be working in the same locations.

Only one new fire was reported between Oct. 13-15.

Fort Frances Fire #23, located in the Nickel Lake area, was a human-caused blaze confirmed on the morning of Oct. 15.

It was reported by a member of the public as burning under a power line.

The fire was declared “out” that same day at 0.1 hectares in size.

Meanwhile, two active fires remain in the Northwest Region—one in the Kenora District and one in Sioux Lookout District.

Both are being monitored and posing no problems.

As well, a prescribed burn in the Sioux Lookout/Dryden districts is being monitored by fire management headquarters staff.

The forest fire hazard is “low-moderate” across the region.

With cooler temperatures, cloud cover, and possibly snow flurries, it is expected to drop.
