Hunters' dinner deemed success

The Emo and District Lions' Club's annual “Hunters' Dinner” was a total success despite the inclement weather.

About 300 people enjoyed a fantastic meal of moose roast, deer stew, bear/apple sausage, fish, and a delicious dessert.

The evening also included a penny table, a 50/50 draw, a pie roulette game, and a draw for a new rifle.

Club members were extremely pleased at the generosity of those in attendance.

They purchased many, many tickets on the draws and raffles knowing full well the money was going to an excellent cause.

Betty Penney was the winner of the 50/50 draw while Darryl Martindale was the proud winner of a new rifle.

Many other people went home with a pie or cake from the dessert game.

The various penny table winners also were pleased with their prizes.

The Emo and District Lions Club would like to thank all those on hand for braving the elements, those businesses and individuals who donated to the penny table, those who baked, and the people who helped clean off the tables.

The money raised will go to support the club's bursary program, its vision screening, and the Lions' medical assistance fund.

If you appreciated the evening and the hard work of the Lions' members, why not consider joining this amazing organization?

The Emo and District Lions and the Fort Frances Voyageur Lions once again will be taking part in the annual “Polar Plunge” on New Year's Day.

A number of jumpers will be representing each club so be prepared to have members approach you for a donation.

Please consider giving generously as all money raised will go towards Lions' projects in the area.

The Lions' members who are jumping into the freezing waters of Sand Bay (behind La Place Rendez-Vous) believe in improving the living conditions in the world and our local communities.
