It's that magic time of the year and one district event that makes this true is the annual “Holly Daze” festivities in Emo taking place this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 30-Dec. 1).
The parade goes on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by the tree-lighting ceremony and a fireworks display.
Hot chocolate also will be served.
Then Saturday will see a flurry of events, including draws, sales, and the Cutest Baby contest.
“Crafts Galore” also takes place both Friday and Saturday at the Emo Legion.
Be sure to make this part of your weekend. It's sure to put you in the Christmas spirit!
A reminder that the annual “Stuff-a-Cruiser” campaign will take place across the district, including at Cloverleaf Grocery in Emo, on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
All monies and food donations received in our area will help local families, including through the Emo food bank.
Volunteers are needed (this is an excellent way for high school students to earn their volunteer hours needed to graduate).
For more info, call 486-3455 or 276-8841.
Don't forget the annual La Vallee Christmas Party “fun day” will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Devlin Hall, starting at 5 p.m.
A potluck supper is served at 5:30 so be sure to bring along your favourite salad or family dish.
There also will be fun events for the kids, cards played for adults, and much more.
The highlight always is the singing of Christmas carols and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus. He's always sure to bring a bag of candy for all the little ones.
This is another great way to get into the Christmas spirit!
A 50/50 draw was not held in November at the Emo Legion. As such, there will be a double month draw held Dec. 22.
Be sure to purchase a ticket as this will be a big money draw. And that, no doubt, is a good way to put you in the holiday spirit.
Congratulations to George and Irene Badiuk on their 50th anniversary on Nov. 26.
Your community sends you congratulations and best wishes on enjoying many more years together.
You are dust and you will return to dust.
That's why I do not dust—it could be someone I know.
