No new fires were reported in the Northwest Region from Oct. 6-8.
Two active fires remain in the region—one in Kenora District and one in Sioux Lookout District.
Both are being monitored and posing no problems.
The forest fire hazard currently is “low-moderate” but forecast to rise over the long weekend.

In related news, a recent prescribed burn in the Sioux Lookout/Dryden Districts is complete and will be monitored by fire management headquarters staff.
The entire project area of 3297.6 hectares was ignited between Sept. 29 and Oct. 2, and aimed to remove residual slash piles, create more planting sites for trees, and reduce the forest fire hazard in the districts.
