The entry deadline for the 2019 Rainy River District Festival for the Performing Arts is set for Friday, Feb. 22.
Entry forms can be found on the “Forms, Fees and Resources” page of its website (ff-festival.com) and at the back of the syllabus.
The updated syllabus also has been posted on the site.
“Festival,” as it is known locally, is entering its 79th year. The committee is excited to announce the reintroduction of the Anishinaabemowin language division to the 2019 event (classes have been added to the syllabus in the Drama Division).
Stay tuned for more details and a full press release.
The festival also is pleased to announce the addition of two new awards for 2018. The Stephanie Hawkins Award ($100) will be awarded to a student registered in Grade 7-9 at school who has entered three different divisions in a single year.
The student must enter two classes in each division.
This award aims to encourage young performers to try other genres of performing arts and to take a risk. Including entries in French will increase the award to $150.
The ARCT Award (also $100), meanwhile, will be awarded for Outstanding Performance in Piano at the ARCT Level.
This is a fantastic district event and the organizing committee would love your support. Either enter yourself in the festival or your church or classroom choir.
It is a memorable experience—one that will help you grow as a performer.
