A Greenstone woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision involving an SUV and a tractor-trailer unit on Highway 11 about 65 km east of Longlac.
Highway 11 west of Hearst and east of Longlac was closed for a number of hours, with traffic re-routed via Nipigon at Highway 11/17.
Police have determined the SUV was eastbound on Highway 11 when it crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck the driver’s side of the westbound tractor trailer-unit.
The unit subsequently caught fire.
The driver of the SUV, identified as Kimberley Vaughan, 51, of Greenstone, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer unit was not injured.
The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.

In related news, Highway 17 between Inglis Road and Beau Jess Road in Kenora was closed in both directions due to a motor-vehicle collision involving two tractor-trailers earlier today.
The OPP is on scene and the clean-up has started.
