Yesterday at 8:30 p.m., the Rainy River District OPP was alerted to a stolen motor vehicle from the Town of Fort Frances.
The OPP and Treaty #3 Police Service began to patrol the area in an effort to locate the vehicle.
The vehicle subsequently was located in Fort Frances but as officers initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle fled from police.
A short pursuit ensued, which was discontinued with public safety in mind.
The vehicle eventually was spotted east of Fort Frances and a tire deflation device (spike belt) was deployed successfully.
Officers arrested the male driver.
As a result, a 22-year-old Seine River F.N. man was charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, possession of stolen property, and weapons dangerous to the public.
He also was charged with numerous Highway Traffic Act infractions.
He was held in custody pending a court appearance here today.
