Two new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by yesterday afternoon.
Fort Frances Fire #17 already has been declared “out” at 0.1 hectares.
But Thunder Bay Fire #45 was listed as “not under control” at 0.3 ha in size.
The lightning-caused blaze is located near Whitefin Lake.
Meanwhile, several of the monitored fires in the far north have been called “out.”
There remains eight active fires in the region, including four in Nipigon District, two in Thunder Bay District, and one each in Kenora District and Red Lake District.
The forest fire hazard is “high” in the southern sectors of the region and “low” in the northern ones.
