Today around 7 a.m., members of the Marathon OPP responded to a vehicle collision on Highway 17 in the Township of Coldwell.
A westbound vehicle collided with the rear trailer wheels of an eastbound tractor trailer.
Emergency services, including the Marathon Fire Department and Superior North Emergency Medical Services, attended the scene to assist the four occupants.
A 24-year-old male of Moncton, N.B. had to be extricated by firefighters, and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The other three occupants received treatment on the scene for minor injuries and released.
The highway was closed for about an hour while emergency services were on scene.
Traffic was open to one lane as of press time while the vehicles are being removed by a local tow company.
The Marathon OPP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
