Spring is here and with that comes many events in district communities.
Guthrie United Church in Devlin will host its annual Spring Tea this Saturday (March 30) from 2-3:30 p.m.
Desserts and tea/coffee will be served, along with refreshments for the young people. There also will be a bake table, penny table, and much more.
Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children aged six-12 (those five and under are free).
Come out and enjoy an afternoon of socializing while supporting Guthrie United Church.
Spring Fever Days is set for April 12-13 in Emo and once again it will be a fully-packed two days of great sales, events, draws, and much more.
The Emo Legion also will hold its annual “Crafts Galore” on both days of Spring Fever Days.
The La Vallee Fire Department is holding its third-annual Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, April 13 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.
Tickets are $10 each.
A reminder that the Rainy River Valley Agriculture Society is hosting a spring “Hawaiian” gala Saturday, May 4 at the Emo Arena.
A social hour starts at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30.
There also will be a penny table, silent auction, games, prizes, and much more.
Tickets cost $50 each, which are available from fair board directors, with all proceeds to assist in the cost of new bathrooms, kitchens, and many more improvements to the fairgrounds.
Emo Legion Br. #99 is holding “A Tribute to Stompin Tom,” which will be performed by his son, Stomper Taw Connors.
This will take place on Saturday, May 11 starting at 7 p.m.
Admission is $30 in advance and $35 at the door, with tickets available at the Legion or Tompkins Hardware in Emo.
Crossroads School in Devlin is hosting a chess tournament on Wednesday, May 8 (which is during Education Week) and players from schools from across the district have been invited to compete.
Volunteers are needed for this event, including arbiters (referees). The canteen also will be open throughout the day.

Congratulations to Jackie and Mitch Rees on the arrival of Lennox Robert, who was born on March 25 in Thunder Bay.
