On Feb. 26, 2018, shortly after 8 a.m., members of the Kenora OPP responded to a report of a sudden death at a residence on the 800 block of Railway Street in Kenora.
The female victim, identified as 77-year-old Brenda Richardson of Fort Frances, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trenton Richardson, 26, a former Kenora resident, was charged with assault causing bodily harm.
On June 19, the accused was charged with second-degree murder.
He was being held in custody in Kenora pending a court appearance scheduled for yesterday.
Members of the OPP North West Region Crime Unit, the Regional Support Team, and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of Det. Insp. Darryl Sigouin of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this death in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
The post-mortem took place at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto on March 1.
