Business expo all ready to go

Category:

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce's annual Business & Community Expo is ready to hit the Fort Frances Curling Club this Friday and Saturday.

Sponsored by Tbaytel, the expo will run Friday from 4-9 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Admission is $3 at the door, with children 12 and under being free.

The Chamber will have a full slate of exhibitors this year.

“Right now, we're around 40 exhibitors,” noted Jennifer Soderholm, executive director of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce.

"We had 60 booths but a lot of the exhibitors bought multiple booths.

“We have a lot of businesses coming from out of town that haven't been here before,” she added.

"We've got some coming from as far away as, I believe, Sudbury.

“So there's new things to see," Soderholm enthused. ”We think there's something for literally everyone.

“It should be interesting and fun.”

Exhibitors range from Green's Brandsource, Loewen's Greenhouse, and Wasaw Business Enterprises to the OPP, the Progressive Conservative Party, and the La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary, which once again will be doing its “Rock'n for a Reason” fundraiser.

For a complete list of exhibitors, see the ad elsewhere in this week's edition of the Times.

Some exhibitors will be selling their wares while others will be providing information. If past expos are any indication, many will offer draws and free giveaways of pens, bags, decals, and more.

Soderholm hinted she is aware of at least one that will be providing food samples.

The Chamber, meanwhile, is asking expo patrons to bring along a non-perishable food item to its booth to give to local food banks.

There also will be the popular “Plinko” game and a children's activity corner.

Outside, there will be a play area and bouncy castle for kids located across from the curling club parking lot.

A buffet will be served upstairs at the Little Amik Bar & Grill both days.

As well, the Fort Frances Voyageurs Lions Club's “Bail or Jail” will take place at the curling club on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in conjunction with the trade show.
