With heavy snowfall forecast for tomorrow, the Rainy River District OPP is urging drivers to slow down to adjust to road and weather conditions.
It is recommended to increase stopping distances and adjust to slower speeds.
The public can call 5-1-1 or refer to the Ministry of Transportation’s website for reports of road closures and up-to-date road conditions (not the OPP’s communications centre).
Check weather and road conditions often—and give yourself extra travel time.
Motorists are reminded to take extra precaution and demonstrate patience around snow removal crews as they work to clear highways.
Driving beside snow plows, or passing or crowding plows, puts drivers and snow plow operators at a risk of collision.
As well, the best road conditions are behind snow plows.
