Melody McKiver, an Indigenous Music Award nominated artist, will play at the Rainy Lake Square this evening (July 4) from 6-8 p.m. Free concert. Bring a chair. Food sold by Flint House.

The 19th-annual “Castin' For Cash” bass tournament goes Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6 at Lake Despair Lodge (located 18 miles north of Devlin on Highway 613). Weigh-ins start at 4 p.m. both days, with a roast pork supper set for the Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. (cost is $12/person). There also will be food booths and refreshments available both days. Come support your favourite team.

Stock car racing action goes Saturday, July 6 at the Emo Speedway, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first heat at 7:30 (weather permitting). Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for students/seniors, with those nine and under being free.

The Fort Frances Museum will be hosting children's programming each Tuesday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Rainy Lake Square, starting on July 9. If you have any or know any kids ages six-10 that would be interested in playing games while learning, sign them up. Cost is $5 per child or $12 per family. Limited amount of spots. Membership meetings for all Couchiching band members will be held on Tuesday, July 9 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Senior Centre and Thursday, July 11 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Multi-Use/Rec Centre. Food and beverages provided. Enter to win a raffle prize.

Sean Ashby will play in “The Barn” at Cornell Farms on Wednesday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Tickets available at the Fort Frances Public Library, Lidkea Optometry, and Tompkins Hardware (Emo) and on Eventbrite.

The Scott Street Summer Celebration will take place on Thursday, July 11 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The 200 block of Scott Street will be blocked off to allow for siddewalk sales, vendors, a dunk tank, kids' activities, and more.

An Indian taco fundraiser for youth summer camps will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the UNFC building (516 Portage Ave.). Deliveries for pre-orders (minimum of 10 tacos). A Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship volunteer drive/info session will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 4-7 p.m. at NCDS (304 Scott St., across from the post office). Kings of None, the winners of the Rainy Lake Series Local Talent Competition, will rock the Rainy Lake Square on Thursday, July 11 from 6-8 p.m. Free concert. Bring your own chair.

The Rainy Lake Community Orchestra will be giving a free performance at the Fort Frances Public Library on Monday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

The Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship will run from July 18-20 at the Sorting Gap Marina. Stay tuned for more details.

The Teddy Bear Picnic will take place on Friday, July 19 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library. Cost is $5 per person; $2 hot dogs. Bouncy castles, “bear doctor” booth, craft and music tent, face painting, and live entertainer Adam Rosner.

A “Festival of India,” presented by the Vedic Cultural Centre-Thunder Bay and Town of Fort Frances, will take place on Monday, July 22 from 6-9 p.m. at Rainy Lake Square. Music, dancing, and food. Entrance free.

“Avengers: Infinity War” will be screened on Thursday, July 25 from 9:30 p.m.-midnight. at the Rainy Lake Square. Free movie. Bring your own chair and snacks.

The Fort Frances Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 2019 induction banquet on Saturday, Aug. 10 at La Place Rendez-Vous. Tickets now on sale at Taggs Source for Sports for $40 each.

“Echoes in the Ice: Finding Franklin's Ship,” the newest exhibit at the Fort Frances Museum, will run through Sept. 22. Admission fees apply: Adults $8, family $24, seniors/children six-12 $6.

Tea and scones are back every “Market Thursday” from July 4-Aug. 29. Come to the Fort Frances Museum from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (back elevator entrance will be open), with admission being $5. (Cost doesn't include admission to exhibit.)
