A free Fort High graduation photo booth will be at Rainy Lake Square today (June 27) starting at 4:30 p.m. Come with your graduating friend or family member to get some free and fun professional photos taken by Mike Anderson.

The next drug strategy meeting will be held today (June 27) from 5-8 p.m. at the Couchiching Multi-Use/Rec Centre. Come and share your ideas to help make our community a safer environment for all. A community supper will be provided.

Riverside Health Care will hold its next open board meeting Thursday, June 27 at 6 p.m. in the board room at La Verendrye General Hospital.

“Echoes in the Ice: Finding Franklin's Ship,” the newest exhibit at the Fort Frances Museum, will open Saturday, June 29 and run through Sept. 22. A grand opening for the exhibit will be held on Wednesday, July 3. Admission fees apply: Adults $8, family $24, seniors/children six-12 $6.

Stock car racing action goes Saturday, June 29 at the Emo Speedway, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first heat at 7:30 (weather permitting). Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for students/seniors, with those nine and under being free.

A youth volleyball tournament for ages 14-17 will be held on Sunday, June 30 at the Point. Tourney starts at noon. For more details, go to the Fun in the Sun Fort Frances Facebook page.

The Times' office will be closed Monday, July 1 to celebrate Canada Day! We will re-open on Tuesday, July 2.

The Br. #29 Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual Canada Day pancake breakfast on Monday, July 1 from 7-9:30 a.m. upstairs at the Legion. Pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and tea. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children five and under.

The first-annual Fun in the Sun Colour Run will take place on Monday, July 1 at 9 a.m. at the Sorting Gap Marina. Register at Taggs Source for Sports. Registration fee is $20, $10 for children 12 and under.

The Canada Day Parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1. Starting at the Sorting Gap Marina, the parade will proceed along Front Street to Armit Avenue, then head north to Church Street where it will move westward to end at the Legion. The Kiwanis Club earring raffle will be held on Monday, July 1 at 4 p.m. at the Point Park. Win diamond earrings donated by Brockie's Jewellers (valued at $2,000). Proceeds to help local projects, including the Rainy Lake Gymnastics Academy. Tickets $5 each; available at Lidkea Optometry and Investors Group as well as from Kiwanis Club and Gymnastics Academy members.

A GED preparation course at Valley Adult Learning Association will commence Tuesday, July 2 and run Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-noon through the summer. If you have any questions or wish to register email vala@jam21.net or call 274-3553.

A come and go tea to honour Andrea Avis' retirement will be held on Thursday, July 4 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Fort Frances Public Library Shaw Hub.

Sean Ashby will play in “The Barn” at Cornell Farms on Wednesday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Tickets available at the Fort Frances Public Library, Lidkea Optometry, and Tompkins Hardware (Emo) and on Eventbrite.

The next membership meeting for all Couchiching band members will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Multi-Use/Rec Centre. Food and beverages provided. Enter to win a raffle prize.

The Rainy Lake Community Orchestra will be giving a free performance at the Fort Frances Public Library on Monday, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library.

A “Festival of India,” presented by the Vedic Cultural Centre-Thunder Bay and Town of Fort Frances, will take place on Monday, July 22 at 6 p.m. at Rainy Lake Square. Music, dancing, and food. Entrance free.

The Fort Frances Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 2019 induction banquet on Saturday, Aug. 10 at La Place Rendez-Vous. Tickets now on sale at Taggs Source for Sports for $40 each.
