Quit complaining

Dear editor:
After the election three years ago, I heard a lot of grumbling about the way it turned out and how Mayor Witherspoon should step aside and let someone new give it a try.
Well, once again another local election has passed us by and there has been no change in “The Powers That Be.”
This time, I am not going to listen to any of the grumbling that I hear. I will only say one thing, “Did you vote?” By looking at the final numbers of the people who did take the time, I would say you have about a 50-50 chance that the answer will be no.
Therefore, in my humble opinion, if you didn’t do your civic duty and vote, you do not have the right to complain about anything at all. How much easier does the voting have to get? This year you didn’t even have to leave your house except to put your ballot in the mail.
Sounds pretty easy to me.
Unfortunately, I no longer live inside the town limits so I was unable to have a say in how this election turned out. So all I can say is don’t complain about something if you are not willing to take the time to try to make a change.
Sincerely,
Kim McKelvie
