To the editor:
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a training session organized to teach lay people how to maintain and use fire extinguishers.
This excellent session was sponsored by Abitibi-Consolidated through its “Off the Job” safety committee, and the trainer was Deputy Fire Chief Charlie Turgeon.
With so many people owning lake cabins, and with our fire hazard being so high this year, this course seemed to be one of utmost importance to people of all ages. May I say “thank you” at this time to Abitibi-Consolidated for promoting this fire training for the whole community, and to Deputy Fire Chief Turgeon for giving of his time to encourage people to be prepared should a fire get started.
Those who attended one of the sessions must surely join me in thanking these people for a truly worthwhile training session.
Thanks also to the organizer, Dale Gustafson, for a job well done, and to North Air for their complimentary transportation service.
