Northwestern Ontario has one of the highest rates of heart disease of any region in Canada.
As such, “Northern Hearts” is working to decrease the incidence of heart disease by helping people be pro-active about their health.
This is the 11th year its successful Northern Hearts Weekend Retreat will be held.
Cardiologists and health professionals will come together to provide scientific information and practical coping mechanisms to those interested in modifying their risk factors and making healthy lifestyle choices.
“We all know that gaining knowledge is a huge step to taking control of our own health and well-being,” said Jack Playford, a Northern Hearts board member.
“People come away from a weekend like this with the most current information on heart disease, relaxation techniques, healthy eating, and the physical activities that are good for their hearts,” he noted.
The weekend get-a-way will be held Oct. 18-21 at the Best Western Nor’Wester Resort.
