Riverside Health Care Facilities, Inc. and the Riverside Foundation for Health Care has announced the official opening of the CT scanner is set for Thursday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. at the La Verendrye Hospital cafeteria.
There will be welcoming remarks, followed by a program will include recognition of the “Just Imagine” campaign volunteers, a CT scanner video demonstration, and tours of the room and new technology.
Cake and coffee also will be served.
“This is a district-wide success and we hope to have a lot of people come together to share in the celebration,” said Deane Cunningham, who chaired the “Just Imagine” campaign that saw more than $1.5 million raised in less than six months to purchase a CT scanner for La Verendrye.
“It is another example of Riverside’s commitment to being the centre of excellence and the leader in providing a continuum of service in northern health care,” noted Riverside CEO Wayne Woods.
“It’s state-of-the-art technology that benefits health care at many levels.
“. . . it provides ongoing educational opportunities for our staff, it assists with our efforts in physician recruitment and retention and, most importantly, patients and their families do not have to travel long distances to have a CT scan,” Woods explained.
The first CT scan was performed at La Verendrye on Aug. 5. Riverside currently is providing up to seven CT scans per day, five days a week.
