‘Clothesline’ program popular

The Canadian Diabetes Association’s “Clothesline” program continues to be popular here, with local drop box host “Share Bears” seeing 7,482 pounds of reusable items donated in the past year.

The CDA’s major fundraiser is the collection of used clothing and household articles, and their resale through Value Village.

The collection of used clothing is very important to the CDA in order to pursue its mission of promoting the health of Canadians through diabetes research, education, service, and advocacy.

These items not only go to a good cause, but also are being diverted from the landfill.

Each day, more than 20 people are being newly-diagnosed with diabetes every hour.

Some nine million Canadians are living with diabetes or pre-diabetes.
