Wife didn’t believe win

ST. ALBERT, Alta.—An Alberta man had joked so many times about winning the lottery that his wife didn’t believe him when they finally hit the jackpot.

And what a jackpot—Raymond Scott’s winning ticket from the Aug. 7 Lotto Max draw is worth $50 million.

Scott, who lives in the hamlet of Fort Kent in east-central Alberta, said his wife just looked at him and said, “Yeah, OK, whatever,” when he told her they’d won.

He said her rather subdued reaction was no doubt because he always tells her they’ve won the lottery—even if it’s just a tiny amount.

Scott purchased the ticket at a mini-mart that has sold him some lucky tickets in the past.

The couple just got married last summer and are planning to finally go on a honeymoon.

“There’s a few other things we want to do, too,” Scott said yesterday when he picked up his cheque from the Western Canada Lotto Corp.

“We’re going to put some money away for the kids for college, go on a vacation, and help out some family,” he noted.
