Omaha zoo finds escaped parrot scared by Goodyear blimp

OMAHA, Neb. — A macaw that flew away from Omaha’s zoo after apparently being spooked by the Goodyear blimp has been found in a nearby neighbourhood.

The Omaha World-Herald reports the macaw, named Cayenne, was out during the zoo’s Birds of Flight show Sunday morning when it was startled by the blimp drifting past. The bird flew out of an amphitheatre and past the zoo’s boundaries.

WASHINGTON — In some ways, President Donald Trump has brought Tammy Kennedy and her daughter, Sue Ann, together on politics.

They don’t agree on every issue Tammy supports abortion rights, for example, while Sue Ann opposes them. Even so, the two agree on most issues and disapprove of the way Trump is doing his job.

Distillery has new bourbon flavoured by beaver secretion

TAMWORTH, N.H. — Beaver-flavoured whiskey, anyone?

A New Hampshire distillery has a new bourbon, Eau De Musc, flavoured partly by the secretion from a beaver’s castor sacs.

Tamworth Distilling says the secretion, called castoreum, has a history of being used as a flavouring and is on a small list of FDA ingredients called “generally recognized as safe.”

Tiny ancient Qur’an on display in Israel for Ramadan

JERUSALEM — A tiny 10th century Qur‚Äôan is on display for the first time as part of a collection of Islamic texts being shown at Israel’s National Library to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Curator Raquel Ukeles said this week that the exhibition is aimed at drawing attention to Islam and minority cultures in the Jewish state.
