T.O.P.S. raise money for ‘Relay’

Members of the Devlin T.O.P.S. took part in Friday’s “Relay for Life” in Fort Frances in honour of long-time member Jeanine Shine, who passed away earlier this year after a courageous battle with cancer.

The club had a goal to raise $3,000 but were ecstatic to almost double that amount through pledges, the purchase of luminaries, and a silent auction held at the annual T.O.P.S. salad supper in late May.

Team captain Neila Booth was thrilled with the amount they raised.

The theme this year was “Movies” and Neila chose “The Wizard of Oz”—her all time favourite. As such, the T.O.P.S. team dressed up as several characters from the movie, including the Munchkins, the good witch, and, of course, “Dorothy.”

They even had a yellow brick road to add to the fun and success of the evening.

A big hats off to the T.O.P.S. club, Neila, and the members who assisted her in organizing an event that takes work, imagination, and diligence to pull off successfully.

It’s amazing to see how our district supports the fight against a disease that has touched many, many lives and families locally.
