Shamrock tea, bake sale a hit

Category:

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary’s Shamrock tea and bake sale on Friday afternoon was well-attended by about 90 people.

Winners were Loretta Hartnell (tea set), Mary Gavin (salad bowl), and John Vandenbrand (door prize).

The money raised at the event ($786) will help pay for the cardiac heart monitor. The next major project will be a new X-ray machine.

The auxiliary would really like to thank everyone who attended, bought baking, and made donations.

Another country music jam will take place this Friday (March 20) at the Emo Legion.

At the last jam, Maurice joined in with his drums and it was great. He plans to come this Friday, too.

Those on hand also will have the great pleasure of hearing Colleen Cote and Louis Hawkness. For those of you who have not heard them before, you are in for a real treat.

Remember, anyone can join in. Just bring your instrument and equipment. Even if you are a beginner, Morris will make you sound like a professional.

There were 14 musicians sharing their talent at the last jam.

Musicians may begin setting up any time after 6 p.m., with the music beginning around 7.

This month’s men’s breakfast meeting ($10 buffet) will take place this Saturday (March 21) at 8 a.m. at the Emo Legion.

The guest speaker will be Dallas Block of Baudette, Mn., who has been a follower of Christ for many years, of which the later years have seen him much involved in the leadership of the church he attends.

Dallas, now a sheriff, has served as a law enforcement officer for 34 years, giving him the opportunity to reach into many a desperate life. As well, for the past 23 years, he has been a hockey coach, thereby reaching into the lives of the younger generation.

Mr. Block obviously loves the Lord and delights in serving Him. Come and be blest—and bring a friend!
