R.I.D.E. netting charges

Rainy River District OPP officers are continuing the Festive R.I.D.E. program, which is in effect from Nov. 28 until Jan. 2.

To date, officers have checked more than 3,500 vehicles in checkstop locations across the district, as well as 20 snowmachines.

Almost 100 hours have been dedicated to R.I.D.E. programs.

Three drivers have been issued 12-hour suspensions and eight have been charged with provincial offences. Three snowmachine operators were warned for documentation violations.

Police are reminding motorists to plan ahead and reduce your risk of being involved in a motor vehicle collision.

Officers will continue to be vigilant in reducing the number of impaired drivers using roads and snowmobile trails.

R.I.D.E. programs will continue throughout the festive season, with officers conducting checkstops on area roads and snowmobile trails.
