Nov. 11 a time to remember

Category:

This Tuesday (Nov. 11) is Remembrance Day and let’s hope all Canadians take time to remember the many, many people who lost their lives in war.

And also remember those Canadians who are still in countries where they are trying to make a difference while helping their fellow human beings to have a better quality of life.

Rural areas will pay tribute to our fallen veterans beginning with a service at 10 a.m. at the Devlin Hall, followed by cenotaph services in Devlin (11 a.m.), Emo (11:45 a.m.), Barwick (1:45 p.m.), Stratton (2:30 p.m.), and Manitou Rapids (3:30 p.m.)

In between, there will be lunch at the Emo Legion, with the annual Remembrance Day dinner being held there starting at 5:30 p.m.

Cost for the dinner is $10 each.

Robin’s 2¢:

Two men went bear hunting. While one stayed in the cabin, the other went out looking for a bear.

He soon found a huge one, shot at it, but only wounded it.

As the enraged bear charged towards him, he dropped his rifle and started running for the cabin as fast as he could.

He ran pretty fast, but the bear was just a little faster and gained on him with every step.

Just as he reached the open cabin door, he tripped and fell flat. Too close behind to stop, the bear tripped over him and went rolling into the cabin.

The man jumped up, closed the cabin door, and yelled to his friend inside, “You skin this one while I go and get another one!”
