No new fires reported here

the MNR

No new fires were reported in the West Fire Region over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Meanwhile, the MNR’s Fire Management Headquarters in Dryden reported that a successful prescribed burn on an island on Eagle Lake continues to smoulder.
This is considered beneficial as it means it will burn off more storm-damaged forest.
The fire will be monitored as it goes out naturally.
With the continuing wet fall weather, fire hazards are expected to remain “low.”
Firefighting resources have been reduced to winter levels with fire crews, waterbombers, and helicopters released.
Full-time fire personnel remaining at Fire Management Headquarters across the region are available to respond should the need arise.
Still, with hunting season upon us, hunters and campers are reminded to be “FireSmart.”
The West Fire Region has seen a total of 192 fires to date, consuming 13,933.8 hectares.
