One new fire was confirmed yesterday in the Northwest Region.
Sioux Lookout Fire #9 was located about two km east of Hudson, along the railway tracks.
Additional fire reports were being looked into, but had not been confirmed.
Fort Frances, Dryden, Red Lake, and Nipigon districts all recorded one new fire each on Wednesday.
No problems were encountered with any of these fires and they all have been declared “out.”
Meanwhile, Nipigon Fire #11 was declared “out” yesterday afternoon at 210 hectares.
The circumstances surrounding this fire remain under investigation.
The forest fire hazard is “high” to “extreme” in the far north.
It remains “moderate” for areas such as Fort Frances, Kenora, and Dryden, as well as areas south of Sioux Lookout, Armstrong, and Geraldton.
