This month’s men’s breakfast ($10 buffet) will be held Saturday (Jan. 17) at 8 a.m. at the Emo Legion, with the guest speaker being Joe Orr, the pastor of Off Lake Covenant Church.

Pastor Joe and his wife were new to this area when they arrived about a year ago. Having lived much of their lives in South America, this was quite a change.

All men are invited to attend, bring a friend, and listen to Pastor Joe as he shares his heart with us.

Hope to see you there!

The Borderland Racing Association is looking for your help in designing a logo for the 55th anniversary of the Emo Speedway, which hosted its first-ever race on July 30, 1954.

Some 13 cars and more than 2,500 fans were on hand for that opening night—and it became an instant hit.

The association wants to celebrate the anniversary by having the public create a logo to be distributed among drivers, fans, volunteers, and sponsors. The contest will be open until Feb. 22 at 11:59 p.m. (CST).

Submissions can be digitally-created (Using Photoshop or other graphic editor) or hand-drawn.

For digital entries, e-mail them to anthonyleek@hotmail.com with the attachment included. File formats accepted should be high-quality, high-resolution.

For hand-drawn entries, mail them to the Borderland Racing Association, P.O. Box 633, Emo, Ont., P0W 1E0 (attn: Logo Contest Entry). Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number with the logo art.

The winner will receive a season pass to the Emo Speedway for 2009 ($125 value), with the winning entry to be announced during the last week of February.
