Evening of Christmas music planned


The Emo Centennial Choir, conductor Renée Martin-Brown, and accompanist Lisa Vos will present an evening of Christmas music and readings, entitled “Hark, a Glad Sound,” on Monday, Dec. 8 starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo.

A free-will offering will be taken, and everyone is welcome to attend!

The Borderland Community Orchestra will hold a concert Friday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Donald Young School here in Emo. There also will be a Scholastic book sale.

Come and listen to the orchestra, as well as purchase a book or two for the younger members of your family.

Admission for adults is $6 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Profits from this event will go to support the drama program at DYS.

This year’s musical is entitled, “Seussical–The Musical,” and DYS students will perform the opening scene from it at this concert.

Local author Elizabeth Adam (nee Klug) will be holding a book-signing this Saturday (Nov. 29) from noon-2 p.m. at Northwoods Gallery & Gifts in Fort Frances and then from 4-6 p.m. at Cloverleaf Grocery in Emo.

Her two books, “Mother Love—Portraits of Its Power” and “Great Expectation—An Inspirational Pregnancy Companion,” will be on sale, as well. Adam will be pleased to sign a personal copy for someone you know who would appreciate these books.

The Stratton Seniors’ Friendship Club will be holding its annual Christmas banquet on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Millenium Hall.

A Christmas tea, featuring baking, religious articles, mini-draws, etc., is slated for Saturday, Dec. 6 from 1-3 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Church hall in Emo.

The tea is being sponsored by the St. Patrick’s C.W.L. and admission is $3.

Everyone is invited to attend.

The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #99 in Emo will be holding its annual seniors’ Christmas supper on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. The cost of the supper is $6, and take-out orders will be available starting at 4:30 p.m.

A snowmobile training course will be held in Fort Frances this Saturday (Nov. 29). The cost is $30 per person, which is due upon registration.

The Emo community Christmas Day dinner, which will be held at Knox United Church, again is looking for your support. They need volunteers to cook, wash dishes, deliver meals, assist Santa, and entertain.

Donations of food and money also are appreciated.
