Emo Sports Field upgrades complete

Category:

The Emo Sports Field now has playground equipment, a swing set, a horseshoe pit, and a beach volleyball court, as well as the baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and driving range.

There is no fee to use the above items.

However, if you require rental of the washroom facility, there is a $50 fee (plus HST), along with a $25 refundable damage deposit.

A “Make and Take” program will be starting next Wednesday (Sept. 5) at 1 p.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church in Emo, and will continue on the first Wednesday of every month.

This is a free program where participants will prepare a nutritious meal they can take with them to eat at home.

Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to contact Siobhan Booth at 482-2211 to register.

The following summer hours at the Emo landfill site will be in effect until Sept. 30—Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

A reminder, too, about Emo’s new recycling program. Recycled materials can be dropped off at the bins beside the municipal garage, or taken directly to the dump and deposited in the proper locations.

The more we can recycle, the longer our dump will last and the less it will cost us all in taxes.

A reminder to all pet owners to please clean up after your pets.

Several complaints have been received regarding dogs and cats running at large.

Please ensure your animals are kept within your property limits at all times.

All dogs and cats must be on a leash when leaving your premises.

With the dry weather continuing, all residents of the Township of Emo should note that when a wildfire (i.e., grass, brush, or bush) is discovered, residents must call 9-1-1 to notify the Emo Fire Department, not the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The township has a written agreement with the MNR to respond only if the fire is beyond the capability of the municipal fire department, and will be requested by the municipality only when needed.

The written agreement is not without cost and the municipality is responsible to pay for all MNR firefighting services.

If you have any questions regarding this notice, call the municipal office at 482-2378.
